Ravneet Garcha is a young woman of Indian heritage and a trained nurse whose family has experienced the injustice of Australia’s immigration system first hand. Having lived in Northwestern Melbourne all her life she understands the challenges of economic inequality and how ordinary people are ignored by those in power. The Victorian Greens want to thank Mohammed for his hard work in the recent months and wish him well in his next endeavours.
His campaigning in Calwell has highlighted the strong support for the Greens policies on cost of living including housing and advocacy for Palestine and environment.. Comment attributable to Ravneet Garcha: “For too long Calwell has been taken for granted. I want to be a strong independent voice fighting for renters, getting dental into Medicare and Palestine.
Together we can turn Calwell Green, keep Peter Dutton out and get Labor to act. Calwell needs improved infrastructure that meets the needs of the community. The Greens will fight for a community where no one is left behind.” Comment attributable to Mohamed El Masri: “I want to thank the Greens for the opportunity to represent my community and look forward to working together in the future, with the situation changing and new opportunities to represent my community available, I have decided to hand over the baton.
I believe the community of Calwell needs a shift from Labor and I wish the new Greens candidate the very best.” Preselection is expected to be finalised by early next week.
