Local events in Yeppoon and Rockhampton drew hundreds waving Australian flags in a proud, peaceful show of unity and concern for the nation’s future. In Yeppoon , an estimated 700 to 1000 attendees joined the grassroots march along James Street and Anzac Parade. One of them, Barbara Mavridis , a Greek-born grandmother visiting from South Australia, said she was moved by the scale of the event and the strength of community spirit.
