Record number of Australians in jobs
The latest labour force data shows employment grew strongly in June, Australia’s unemployment rate remains low, and more people are in jobs. Employment rose by 76,300 in June, with a record 14.8 million Australians in jobs and 7.1 million women in work. Since coming into Government more than 1.3 million jobs have been created.
The participation rate also rose to 67 per cent in June, and is close to its record high, with more Australians either working or looking for work. The unemployment rate stood at 4.4 per cent in June and remains low by historical standards, highlighting the resilience of Australia’s labour market during a period of ongoing global economic uncertainty.
