Innovative financing for sustainable economic growth in Indonesia
Media Release 24 July 2026 Australia is supporting resilient and inclusive economic growth in Indonesia by mobilising new and innovative financing. The Albanese Government knows a strong region means a stronger Australia. Indonesia is one of Australia's closest partners and is central to our own economic future.
A more prosperous and resilient Indonesia means greater trade and investment opportunities for Australian businesses. The Federal Government, through a foundational investment of $11.62 million by Australian Development Investments, is catalysing Australian philanthropic funds to expand our climate and economic cooperation with Indonesia. Minderoo Foundation, the Paul Ramsay Foundation and the LEEAF Trust will invest $12.57 million alongside the Australian Government.
This landmark public-philanthropic partnership will back Indonesian small- and medium-sized enterprises in the agriculture, agroforestry and aquaculture sectors to grow and attract further finance. The partnership will support climate action, create local jobs and improve gender equality across Indonesia. This initiative is one of many supporting the implementation of Invested: Australia's Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040.
Australia will continue to work with Indonesia and other partners across Southeast Asia to invest in our collective future and prosperity.
