Nominations to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund
The Albanese Government will nominate Amanda Sayegh for appointment as the Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund and Ruth Moore for appointment as the Alternate Executive Director at the World Bank Group. These appointments will ensure Australia has a high calibre of representation at two of the world’s most important financial institutions at a time of heightened uncertainty in the global economy.
Ms Sayegh is currently a Senior Economist at the IMF. She is highly qualified for the position, having been a senior Australian economist with extensive experience in fiscal policy and international economic institutions, spanning over 25 years. Ms Sayegh has represented Australia internationally, including as Minister Counsellor (Economic) at the Australian Embassy in Washington, D.C., has held senior roles across Government and brings deep expertise in public finance, macroeconomic policy and global economic engagement.
Ms Moore is currently an Assistant Secretary in the Financial System Division of the Markets Group at Treasury. She brings extensive experience in economic and financial policy, legislative reform and stakeholder engagement, having held a range of senior roles across the Australian Government and in international assignments. The Government thanks Nghi Luu for her work as Alternate Executive Director at the IMF and Rob Nicholl for his work as Executive Director at the World Bank Group.
