Victoria Secures Global Fintech Event

Victoria will cement its position as a global fintech leader – with Melbourne to host the inaugural Asia Pacific edition of Money20/20 Australia. The conference is the world’s leading fintech event and will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on 15-17 February 2028. The Melbourne Convention Bureau, supported by the Labor Government and Tourism Australia, secured the event for Melbourne.

It will bring global leaders in finance, technology, payments and commerce together to drive innovation and shape the future of financial services. Melbourne’s strong fintech ecosystem, world-class business events infrastructure and international connections make it an obvious choice for Money20/20 Australia. Melbourne is home to a vibrant ecosystem of startups, established institutions and major fintech brands like Afterpay, Square, Up Bank, Judo Bank and MYOB.

The fintech sector is creating new businesses, jobs and investment, and the Labor Government is backing innovation across the state. Financial and insurance services contributed $57.4 billion to Victoria's economy in 2024-25 with the sector employing 162,200 Victorians. Money20/20 Australia adds to Melbourne’s strong calendar of major business events, further cementing Victoria’s position as a leader in the fintech space.

Other early September events include Intersekt and the inaugural Australian Data Center World and AI Summit, which together will bring more than 1,800 delegates to the city.
