Today marks the one-year anniversary of the Porepunkah tragedy. To honour the service and sacrifice of Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart, who were tragically killed in the line of duty at Porepunkah on 26 August 2025, can I ask members to rise in their place for 1 minute’s silence. Members stood in their places.

Production of documents Construction industry Box Hill brickworks site The Clerk: I table two letters from the Attorney-General, both dated 25 August 2026, in response to resolutions of the Council on 29 July 2026 relating to the John Merritt review of infrastructure work sites on the motion of Mrs McArthur and on 12 August 2026 relating to the Box Hill brickworks site on the motion of Mr Welch.

The letters each state that the date for the production of documents does not allow sufficient time to respond and that the government will endeavour to provide a final response to the orders as soon as possible.
