Appointments to the Airservices Australia Board
The Albanese Government welcomes the appointment of Mr David Fredericks PSM as Deputy Chair, and the re-appointment of Ms Nicolle Connelly as member, of the Airservices Australia (Airservices) Board. Mr Fredericks brings a wealth of experience in public sector governance and a proven ability to navigate complex strategic, financial and regulatory challenges at the highest levels.
His career spans budget and financial management, legal and justice policy, corporate services, economic reform, and intergovernmental policy. Mr Fredericks most recently served as Secretary of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. Ms Connelly was first appointed in August 2023.
Her re-appointment reflects her significant contributions to the board and her 35 years of experience in the aviation sector – particularly in aviation safety and air traffic management. Ms Connelly has held various roles on the board, including her current position as Chairperson of the Safety Committee. The Airservices Board requires an extensive skill set in a wide range of areas, including: the aviation sector, air traffic services, safety, risk, corporate governance, law, digital technology and strategic management.
The addition of Mr Fredericks for a five-year term and Ms Connelly’s reappointment for an additional four-year term ensures the board is well equipped for what will be one of the busiest periods for Australian aviation.
