Appointment to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1)

Attorney-General’s portfolio The Albanese Government is pleased to announce the appointment of Deputy Chief Judge Patrizia Mercuri to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1). Deputy Chief Judge Mercuri will commence in the Parramatta registry on 7 October 2026. The appointment follows a merit-based process comprising an open call for expressions of interest and consideration by an advisory panel of eminent individuals.

Biographical details Deputy Chief Judge Patrizia Mercuri was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1991. Deputy Chief Judge Mercuri was appointed Judge of the Federal Circuit Court of Australia in 2017 and commenced her current role as Deputy Chief Judge (General and Fair Work) of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) in 2021.
