Dandenong Employment Hub now open for local jobseekers
Today the Pathway to Employment Hub (the Hub) in Dandenong, Victoria is officially open. Local jobseekers are encouraged to visit the Hub, now it can begin to link them with the supports they need to find local employment. The Hub will bring employment, training and support services together in one place, making it easier for people to connect with jobs and opportunities.
The Albanese Labor Government is investing $1.5 million over 3 years to deliver the Hub in partnership with the Victorian Government and Greater Dandenong City Council. This commitment was made as part of the 2025 Federal Election, and we are pleased to deliver it for the people of Greater Dandenong. Greater Dandenong is a diverse and growing community with strong opportunities for local people and businesses alike.
More than 1,400 manufacturing businesses operate in the region, supporting over 21,000 jobs. The area is also one of Australia's most multicultural communities, with 63% of residents born overseas and 69% of households speaking a language other than English at home. Despite these opportunities, unemployment in the region remains above the national average at 6.7%, compared with 4.4% nationally.
The Hub will bring together employment, training and support services to help more local people connect with opportunities and meet local workforce needs. Support will include: connecting people with jobs, training and support services building skills and preparing people for work delivering employment programs tailored to local workforce needs strengthening links between employers, training providers and jobseekers supporting culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
The initiative will help more local people from all backgrounds connect with opportunities, overcome barriers and take the next step towards employment.
