New appointments to High Speed Rail Authority
The Albanese Government has appointed Professor Eva Hanly and Mr Christopher Rayner to the High Speed Rail Authority (HSRA) Board as members. Professor Hanly is a strategic advisor and non-executive director with nearly three decades experience procuring, delivering and operating complex infrastructure projects across the transport, mining and energy sectors.
She has held senior roles in infrastructure companies including as chief executive officer of Squadron Energy and at Worley, Transurban and Origin. Professor Hanley is currently a Professor of Engineering Practice at the University of New South Wales, and a Director on the TAFE NSW Advisory Board. Mr Rayner is a deeply experienced rail executive from the United Kingdom (UK) and brings his working knowledge of high-speed rail projects, specifically rolling stock, operations systems and systems integration, to the HSRA Board.
His experience includes working on the UK’s High Speed 2 project and developing the operating and maintenance regimes undertaken for the commissioning of High Speed 1. Professor Hanly has been appointed for a three-year term, with Mr Rayner appointed for a two-year term. The appointments of Professor Hanly and Mr Rayner follow an open competitive process undertaken to identify candidates with the appropriate skills and experience to fill vacant HSRA Board member roles.
Both appointments will support HSRA as it continues to progress the two-year development phase of High Speed Rail.
