Criminal Code Amendment (Hate Crimes) Bill 2024

Mr BANDT (Melbourne—Leader of the Australian Greens) (20:26): Further to my previous comments when a withdrawn sheet was moved, some previous amendments were circulated by the opposition that we felt were within the scope of the bill and had been inclined to support. These new amendments have been circulated with limited time and with no consultation with us, so we're not in a position now to advise whether or not we support these amendments.

Certainly, as I said, the previous ones that were moved were ones that we were inclined to support, but I just don't know whether these ones are different. So, on that basis, we'll be calling for the question to be unresolved. Question unresolved.

The DEPUTY SPEAKER ( Ms Claydon ): Similarly, this is a question that is unresolved. In accordance with standing order 188, I shall have the question included in the Federation Chamber's report to the House on the bill. As it is necessary to resolve certain unresolved questions to enable further questions to be considered in relation to this bill, in accordance with standing order 195 the bill will be returned to the House for further consideration.

Federation Chamber adjourned at 20:29
