Administrative Review Tribunal (Miscellaneous Measures) Bill 2024
Senator CHISHOLM (Queensland—Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Assistant Minister for Education, Assistant Minister for Regional Development and Deputy Manager of Government Business in the Senate) (12:51): The bill makes technical amendments to sections 347 and 348 of the Migration Act to clarify what it means for an application to be properly made.
It must meet the existing requirements set out in sections 347 and 347A and be made within time. The amendment also makes it explicit that the tribunal cannot review an application that is not properly made. These amendments make sure that the act operates as intended and as it always has and that applicants clearly understand the requirements for a valid application.
That is why they are important.
