Senator PAYMAN (Western Australia) (14:52): My question was specifically about WA, but that's okay. Amidst the cost-of-living crisis, the national housing crisis and the climate change emergency, we still managed to cough up $800 million to ship off to the US as the first payment towards the AUKUS submarines, which I don't think is in the best interests of Australians.

Yet the US treats us with the same contempt as it does its worst enemies. Minister, is this how friends treat each other?
