In yesterday's budget there was no new funding for the Growing Regions Program or the Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program, the two grant programs that fund critical infrastructure in regional Australia. There was $1 billion of funding announced for roads in Victoria, but this was for Melbourne's suburbs.

Why is there so little new funding for infrastructure in regional Australia?
