Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Amendment (Reconsiderations) Bill 2025

The CHAIR (22:09): I will now deal with the Committee of the Whole amendments circulated by the Australian Greens. The question is that the amendments on sheet 3340 be agreed to. Australian Greens' circulated amendments— (1) Schedule 1, item 1, page 3 (after line 24), after subsection 78(3A), insert: (3B) Subsection (3A) does not apply if the action is a fossil fuel action.

(2) Schedule 1, page 3 (before line 25), before item 2, insert: 1A At the end of section 78 Add: Interpretation (8) In this section: fossil fuel action means an action that involves the exploration, prospecting, discovery, development or extraction of fossil fuels. fossil fuels includes any of the following: (a) coal; (b) oil and other petroleum-based products; (c) gas; (d) products, by-products and wastes from extracting or processing fossils fuels to which paragraphs (a) to (c) apply.
