Free TAFE Bill 2024

The PRESIDENT (22:44): The time allotted for the consideration of the bill has expired. I will first deal with the second reading amendment circulated by the Australian Greens. The question is that the second reading amendment on sheet 3348 be agreed to.

Australian Greens' circulated amendment— At the end of the motion, add ", but the Senate: (a) notes that: (i) if Labor can legislate their promises on fee-free TAFE right now, they can also legislate to wipe student debt, and (ii) there is a desperate need for significant investment in TAFE infrastructure, equipment and staff; and (b) calls on the Government to: (i) wipe all student debt and make university and TAFE free, and (ii) commit funding to investment in TAFE infrastructure, equipment and staff".
