The PRESIDENT (22:54): I will now deal with the Committee of the Whole amendments circulated by the Jacqui Lambie Network. The question is that the amendments on sheet 3136 be agreed to. Jacqui Lambie Network's circulated amendments— (1) Clause 8, page 7 (after line 28), after paragraph (1)(g), insert: (ga) the matter set out in section 8A (which deals with the recovery of funding in the event of failing units of study); (2) Part 3, page 8 (after line 27), at the end of the Part, add: 8A Recovery of funding in the event of failing units of study (1) For the purposes of paragraph 8(1)(ga), the matter is the recovery by the State of an amount from a person if: (a) the person has been enrolled in an FT place in a course; and (b) the course consists of one or more units of study (the qualifying units); and (c) the person fails at least three qualifying units.

Note: The qualifying units may be different units or the same unit (if the person has enrolled in the same unit more than once). (2) For the purposes of subsection (1), the amount mentioned in that subsection is equal to the amount of the funding that was provided for each of the qualifying units that the person failed.
