Health Legislation Amendment (Improved Medicare Integrity and Other Measures) Bill 2025

Senator McALLISTER (New South Wales—Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme) (12:42): Thanks for the question, Senator Roberts. The advice that I've been provided is that the amendment goes to the ability to act in advance of a shortage arising—knowing that a shortage is coming towards us down the pipeline rather than being required to wait until the shortage actually arises.

It will allow the government and the authorities to get ahead of shortages in relation to pharmaceuticals.
