Defence Housing Australia Amendment Bill 2025

Senator SHOEBRIDGE (New South Wales) (12:55): Minister, what legal basis did Defence Housing Australia have to enter into contracts to build houses for US and UK troops when it signed those contracts for 550 new homes near Fleet Base West? Did they just decide that they weren't limited by the law—that they could just sign contracts to build homes for foreign defence personnel without troubling themselves with having the legal authority to do that?
