Defence Housing Australia Amendment Bill 2025

Senator McALLISTER (New South Wales—Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme) (13:08): I have tried to provide some information to you about the screening processes, as you raised that in your second reading contribution; however, I think we are now straying well beyond the bill that's in front of us. Of course, the Australian government is highly attentive to any risks that might present to our national security infrastructure.

You cited contributions from some of our officials, and we listened to those very carefully. But, essentially, this bill is really not about those matters at all. This bill has a reasonably simple proposition.

It's before senators, and we're asking for the Senate's support to pass it.
