Senator KOVACIC (New South Wales) (18:35): Noting your comments that the employer groups are wrong and that the employer groups represent employers, many of them large employers as well, there is clearly confusion in relation to the operation of the bill. Why would we not then simply articulate that it is not retrospective in the drafting of the bill? Wouldn't that make it simpler?
We've had a long discussion here about whether it is or whether it isn't, and there are a lot of concerns and there is clearly a lot of confusion. Why would we not just do that? Why wouldn't we simplify this piece of legislation and make that crystal clear?
