House of RepresentativesWednesday 3 September 2025

STATEMENTS

Dr WEBSTER (Mallee) (15:07): Mr Speaker, I wish to make a personal explanation. The SPEAKER: Does the honourable member claim to have been misrepresented? Dr WEBSTER: Yes, I do.

The SPEAKER: Please proceed. Dr WEBSTER: The Prime Minister, in answering my question today, stated that I had organised a protest in Horsham. That is untrue.

I merely stood with my community. He also— Government members interjecting— The SPEAKER: Order! The member is entitled to be heard in silence.

Members on my right will cease interjecting so the member for Mallee can proceed. Dr WEBSTER: He also implied that I had organised the protest that took place in Ballarat on Friday last week and stood with a woman, or encouraged the woman, to stand on a chair with a noose around her neck. That is absolutely untrue.

That imputation is grievously offensive.
