Senator McKIM (Tasmania—Australian Greens Whip) (17:04): At the request of Senator Shoebridge, I move: (1) That the Senate notes that: (a) in accordance with Senate resolution 44, government responses to committee reports are required to be tabled within 3 months of a report being tabled; (b) the Legal and Constitutional Affairs References Committee tabled its report on the operation of Commonwealth freedom of information laws on 7 December 2023; and (c) a government response has not been tabled even though it was due by 7 March 2024.

(2) That there be laid on the table by the Minister representing the Attorney General, by no later than 9 am on 4 September 2025, the outstanding government response to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs References Committee report on the operation of Commonwealth freedom of information laws. Question agreed to.
