QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE
Mr BOWEN (McMahon—Minister for Climate Change and Energy) (14:31): I thank the honourable gentleman for his question. There are a couple of estimates in relation to the question he asked. The ANU, for example, has estimated 120,000 hectares, or 1,200 square kilometres.
In a New South Wales context, the New South Wales Agriculture Commissioner has estimated that it would need 55,000 hectares in New South Wales, or 0.1 per cent of rural land. In relation to that report, the New South Wales Agriculture Commissioner said: Our analysis of likely and worst-case land use changes, with the renewable rollout to 2051, does not indicate a material impact on agricultural production.
