Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (Triple Zero Custodian and Emergency Calling Powers) Bill 2025

Senator SHOEBRIDGE (New South Wales) (13:10): The minister asked why we would want this information, and I sought to articulate why we would want the information. You may have heard some of that. But again we ask what, if any, conditions were put.

If you're not in a position to identify what they are, would you undertake to seek to provide those answers? There's a good chance this committee stage may well go past this 1.30. We're not doing it to be mischievous; we're doing it because we are concerned that this is a company that has form, and whatever commitments may have been made have probably not been complied with, because from our analysis this is a company that does not commit in good faith to protecting Australians.

They are very real concerns, and if you can't answer them now, Minister, can you seek to get that clarification over the break if, as I suspect probably happens, this committee stage goes beyond 1.30.
