MATTERS OF URGENCY
Senator WHITTEN (Western Australia) (17:39): I couldn't agree more that Labor is fuelling the housing crisis, driving up demand with policies like their five per cent deposit scheme, and the Greens have finally realised what is driving prices: demand driven by uncontrolled mass immigration. It is mass immigration that has driven up housing prices, blown out rents and left Western Australia with a 0.7 per cent rental vacancy rate.
It is the youth of Australia who bear the cost. Young people face a median house price of over a million dollars and climbing. For the first time in Australia's history, the next generation is having to come to terms with the idea that their life is going to be harder than their parents'.
They aren't going to have the opportunities. They aren't going to have the Australian dream. Who is standing up for young Australians?
One Nation will answer the call. One Nation will ban property purchases by noncitizens. One Nation will put an end to mass immigration.
One Nation will bring the Australian dream back to life. The ACTING DEPUTY PRESIDENT ( Senator Sterle ): The time for debate has expired. The question is that the motion moved by Senator McKim be agreed to.
