Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (Triple Zero Custodian and Emergency Calling Powers) Bill 2025

Senator GREEN (Queensland—Assistant Minister for Tourism, Assistant Minister for Pacific Island Affairs and Assistant Minister for Northern Australia) (18:42): For the purposes of clarification, the government will be opposing this amendment. On the issue of reporting, the provisions as drafted in the bill are sufficient, and they do ensure accountability to the minister on a number of levels, from the custodians point of view as well as from ACMA.

The TEMPORARY CHAIR ( Senator Grogan ): The question is that amendments (1) and (2) on sheet 3459 be agreed to. A division having been called and it being past 6.30, we will defer it until a later date.
