QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE

Senator KOVACIC (New South Wales) (14:00): My question is to the Minister representing the Prime Minister, Senator Wong. Last night 60 Minutes aired another round of deeply disturbing allegations about corrupt and criminal behaviour in the CFMEU. This time the behaviour has occurred whilst the CFMEU has been placed under administration by the Albanese Labor government.

The reports came after it emerged in the Sydney Morning Herald and the Age that John Perkovic had accepted numerous bribes from building firms that he was meant to oversee as a union official. He was only sacked by the government's administrator after questions from the media. Why is the government only taking action when journalists come knocking?

Why isn't the government's own administration doing its job and cleaning up the corrupt and criminal behaviour of the CFMEU?
