QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE

Senator ROBERTS (Queensland) (14:44): According to the Australian Energy Regulator, the fourth quarter of 2024 saw the second-highest number of extreme electricity price events ever, with prices exceeding $5,000 per megawatt hour. This happens when base-load power generation is not in the mix. Instead, when run continuously, coal can run electricity at just $50 per megawatt hour.

Minister, will you give Australians suffering from record high electricity prices a break and run our coal generators properly? (Time expired)
