QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE
Senator GALLAGHER (Australian Capital Territory—Minister for Finance, Minister for the Public Service, Minister for Women, Minister for Government Services and Manager of Government Business in the Senate) (14:59): Thank you very much, Senator Grogan, for the supplementary question. We need to invest in health professionals and make sure they have the training that they need to be able to provide appropriate advice to women and offer women the choices that these new listings offer, including the first ever clinical guidelines, as I said before, which are there to support the health workforce.
We know that, for long-acting contraceptives, the levels at which Australian women use those contraceptives is much lower than in like economies and countries. We need to understand that a bit more. Part of that is making sure that we're training the health workforce, making sure that the Medicare items that support those consultations are funded appropriately and making sure that health professionals have all the guidelines and guidance that they need to be able to provide those choices to women.
Senator Wong: I ask that further questions be placed on the Notice Paper.
