Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (Triple Zero Custodian and Emergency Calling Powers) Bill 2025

Senator GREEN (Queensland—Assistant Minister for Tourism, Assistant Minister for Pacific Island Affairs and Assistant Minister for Northern Australia) (12:23): I can confirm that the telco websites will hold the information, as directed by the minister. We are requiring them to take this step because we want them to be held accountable for the actions that they have taken, on top of all of the measures that this bill will bring about.

The Triple Zero Custodian is designed to make sure that we have the powers not only to investigate outages but to take proactive steps to ensure that they do not occur again.
