MATTERS OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE

Senator WHITTEN (Western Australia) (17:26): One Nation is the only party that genuinely cares about getting Australia back on track. This matter of public importance is on the table today because of the failures of Labor to look after the best interests of the Australian people. They are too busy trying to look the part in Davos or getting ready for COP30 with their UN buddies to worry about everyday Australians struggling to put food on the table, put petrol in the car or pay the rent.

One Nation isn't afraid to get up the nose of these international cartels that preach climate apocalypse while flying about in their private jets. We want to fix the problems faced by everyday Australians. We don't want net zero, which has driven up our power prices with industries closing left, right and centre.

Just today, it was reported that we might lose Tomago Aluminium, Australia's biggest smelter, with 40 per cent of their operating costs being electricity. They are New South Wales's single largest electricity customer. That closure alone risks thousands of good jobs and leaves families dangling over the edge of financial ruin.

This follows on from the Kwinana aluminium refinery in my home state of Western Australia closing its doors last month—more Australians hung out to dry. Minister Bowen has now been forced to admit that energy prices will only increase further from here after he was forced to release his top-secret and heavily redacted energy report. They know that net zero will send Australians to the wall.

They don't care. If that doesn't finish off vulnerable Australians, they have the next prong of their attack: massive demand-side pressure on housing to drive up the cost of rents and homes via mass immigration and ill-conceived deposit schemes. Australians need relief.

Australians need One Nation. One Nation is the only party that is committed to scrapping net zero, ending mass immigration and bringing the Australian dream back from the brink.
