STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS

Ms MILLER-FROST (Boothby) (13:47): The Albanese Labor government continues the Labor legacy of affordable health care, building health services for the growing southern suburbs of Adelaide. In my electorate of Boothby alone, we have an urgent care clinic, now operating for almost two years, taking pressure off Flinders Medical Centre's ED. We have a headspace, which provides mental health services for young people.

These will soon be joined by a mental health kids hub, which will be opened at the Marion GP Plus Health Care Centre; an eating disorder clinic, to be established at Repat; and a Medicare mental health clinic, which was an election commitment in 2025. Bulk-billing continues to rise. The bulk-billing rate in Boothby is 69.4 per cent, which is up 1.8 percentage points from the previous quarter.

This is in advance of 1 November, when this Labor government's largest-ever Medicare commitment kicks in—more bulk-billing for everyone. We have $150 million going into Flinders University to produce an additional 1,300 nurses and allied health workers every year, and to provide 10,000 new allied health appointments to the public in student led clinics. The Flinders Medical Centre rebuild is continuing, with our state government, which will deliver 160 new beds, plus a new ED and operating theatres.

Labor continues its legacy of investing in our health for our communities for generations to come.
