Education Legislation Amendment (Integrity and Other Measures) Bill 2025

Ms BRISKEY (Maribyrnong) (13:29): Education is the great equaliser. It's what opens doors that might otherwise stay closed. It's what lifts people out of disadvantage, transforms lives and strengthens communities.

For generations, Australian families, including those across my electorate of Maribyrnong, have believed education is the surest path to a better future for their children. It's why parents work long hours, juggle shifts and make sacrifices—because they know access to quality education, from early learning through to university, is the foundation for opportunity.

Labor has always understood that. We are the party that built the public education system. We are the party striving for universal access to early learning, and we have expanded access to higher education.

We are the party that continues to make sure every child, every student and every worker has a fair shot at success. Once again, Labor has introduced a bill to reform our education system. The Education Legislation Amendment (Integrity and Other Measures) Bill 2025 is an important bill, one that strengthens integrity across our education system— The DEPUTY SPEAKER ( Mr Boyce ): It now being 1.30 pm, the debate is interrupted and the Federation Chamber will suspend until the chair is resumed at 4 pm.

The member for Maribyrnong will be given leave to continue her remarks then. Sitting suspended from 13:30 to 15:59
