DOCUMENTS

Senator FARRELL (South Australia—Minister for Trade and Tourism, Special Minister of State and Deputy Leader of the Government in the Senate) (15:02): by leave—Twenty-seven documents were tabled in response to order for the production of documents No. 37. The Minister for Communications makes a claim of public interest immunity for three of the documents within the scope of the order.

Redactions have been applied where content of the document is out of the scope of the order or where public interest immunity has been claimed. The government has consulted extensively on the upcoming social media minimum age delay. Delaying access to social media will help protect the health and the wellbeing of young people and give them extra time to develop real-world connections and digital literacy skills before they join global platforms.

I understand that the Minister for Communications has offered to meet Senator Payman and discuss her priorities for online safety, and I encourage the Senate to take up that offer.
