QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE

Senator TYRRELL (Tasmania—Independent TAS Whip) (14:30): My question is to the Minister representing the Minister for Communications, Minister Farrell. For the past few days we've been debating how to hold Optus and other telecommunications providers to account through the Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (Triple Zero Custodian and Emergency Calling Powers) Bill 2025.

We know that regional communities are greatly impacted by the actions of telco providers and outages of their services. Do you think it's important that telco providers follow the legislative requirements of the Telecommunications (Consumer Protection and Service Standards) Act?
