QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE
Senator CAROL BROWN (Tasmania) (14:36): My question is to the Minister representing the Minister for Housing, Senator Ayres. The Albanese Labor government is delivering on the commitment to build more homes and to make it easier for Australians to buy them. On 1 October, the five per cent deposit scheme was expanded to be available to all first home buyers.
How many people have signed up to the scheme under the government, and what parts of the community are benefiting from the expanded scheme? Senator Ayres: President, there's a question of order here. Perhaps it was Senator McKenzie's turn to ask a question.
The PRESIDENT: The opposition advised me they'd changed their questions around, so I am simply following the advice that they gave me. I've sought clarity. I misunderstood.
I beg your pardon. I'll call Senator McKenzie. My apologies to the chamber.
