QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE

Senator McCARTHY (Northern Territory—Minister for Indigenous Australians) (14:42): The minister responsible for IR has been in regular touch with regulators around compliance within the workplace relations system. She has written letters to the relevant regulators and law enforcement agencies—namely the AFP, the Fair Work Commission and the Fair Work Ombudsman—asking them to consider investigating any matters raised by the reporting that is within their jurisdictions.

She has received a detailed verbal briefing regarding Operation Rye from the AFP Commissioner, who confirmed that there are a number of active investigations on foot. She has also had a detailed briefing from Mr Irving, who confirmed that a detailed strategic plan is being carefully followed. And Mr Irving is undertaking his work in a systematic and orderly manner.

Honourable senators interjecting— Senator McCARTHY: You see, they're not interested. It's all a con! They come in here pretending they care, and they don't.

The PRESIDENT: Senator McKenzie, second supplementary?
