Senator AYRES (New South Wales—Minister for Industry and Innovation and Minister for Science) (14:54): Well, 190,000 Australians are using the five per cent deposits, and I'm pleased to tell Australians that more than 5,000 homes have been delivered with support from this government—built—despite delays brought on by the opposition. More than 25,000 social and affordable homes are in planning or are being built.
These homes are being built in every part of Australia— An opposition senator interjecting— Senator AYRES: even in Double Bay, Senator, or wherever it is that you hang out—for frontline workers in regional Australia, for women and children fleeing domestic violence and for the people doing the difficult jobs that keep our communities together. That's what this government does.
