MATTERS OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE

The SPEAKER (15:11): I have received a letter from the honourable Deputy Leader of the Opposition proposing that a definite matter of public importance be submitted to the House for discussion, namely: How the Government's spending spree is being paid for by everyday Australians in their tax returns, electricity bills, mortgage statements and their difficulty finding a job.

I call upon those honourable members who approve of the proposed discussion to rise in their places. More than the number of members required by the standing orders having risen in their places—
