Social Security and Other Legislation Amendment (Technical Changes No. 2) Bill 2025
Senator ALLMAN-PAYNE (Queensland) (12:05): Thanks for that clarification, Minister. One of the concerns of legal experts—academic experts—is that this amendment was made to the bill in the House following the Senate inquiry into the bill. Also, as Senator Thorpe talked about earlier today, this has also meant that this schedule was not in the bill when it went to the human rights committee.
In responding to some of those assertions by the crossbench, in our earlier exchange, you talked about the fact that these amendments were introduced by the government after you'd received advice. Minister, can you inform the Senate who gave that advice and to whom, when that advice was given and the contents of that advice?
