Social Security and Other Legislation Amendment (Technical Changes No. 2) Bill 2025

Senator GALLAGHER (Australian Capital Territory—Minister for Finance, Minister for the Public Service, Minister for Women, Minister for Government Services and Manager of Government Business in the Senate) (13:22): In relation to this bill, the individual who may face a benefit restriction notice must have been charged with an offence that I've gone through today: the loss of a person's life; serious risk of a person's life; serious personal injury; serious risk of personal injury; sexual assault; the production, publication, possession and supply or sale of child abuse material—for example, consenting to or procuring the employment of a child or employing a child in connection with child abuse material or acts done in preparation for or to facilitate the commission of a sexual offence against a person under 16.

It does not cover any individuals attending a protest.
