Senator ASKEW (Tasmania—Chief Opposition Whip in the Senate) (17:51): At the request of Senator Bragg, I move: That the Senate: (a) notes that: (i) order for the production of documents no. 196, agreed to by the Senate on 28 October 2025, requesting that the Minister representing the Minister for Housing, by no later than midday on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, table any advice prepared by the Treasury for the Minister for Housing for the purposes of the appointment of the observer to the Housing Australia Board was not complied with, and (ii) the failure to comply with the order in a timely manner disregards the function of the Senate; and (b) requires the Minister representing the Minister for Housing to attend the Senate on Tuesday, 25 November 2025 at the conclusion of question time to provide an explanation of no more than 5 minutes of the failure to comply with the order, and that: (i) any senator may move to take note of the explanation, and (ii) any such motion may be debated for no longer than 30 minutes and shall have precedence over all business until determined, and senators may speak to the motion for not more than 5 minutes each.
