Education Legislation Amendment (Integrity and Other Measures) Bill 2025

Australian Greens ' circulated amendment— At the end of the motion, add ", but the Senate: (a) notes that: (i) international students have been repeatedly demonised and scapegoated by this Labor government for a housing crisis that they did not cause and that successive governments have failed to address, (ii) international students contribute significantly to our campuses and our communities, yet are treated like cash cows through exorbitant fees and crushing visa application costs, and (iii) our education and care systems have become increasingly corporatised by private providers more concerned with profit than providing high-quality care and education; and (b) calls on the Government to: (i) commit to free, universal, and high-quality early childhood education and care, (ii) return to free university and TAFE, (iii) provide additional support to international students in higher education and end the scapegoating, and (iv) reduce international student visa application fees".
