Commonwealth Entities Legislation Amendment Bill 2026
Senator GREEN (Queensland—Assistant Minister for Tourism, Assistant Minister for Pacific Island Affairs and Assistant Minister for Northern Australia) (14:21): Of course, suspension and termination are two different things. The suspension power, as we've stepped through previously, is required to ensure that, if there is a risk to the integrity of the entity or to the workplace—a particular hypothetical example would be where there are allegations of sexual misconduct and so forth.
That suspension would be required. Of course, in that circumstance, there would be a director acting in the role, and, as we've stepped through before, that suspension would be publicly notified.
