Dr RYAN (Kooyong) (14:50): My question is to the Minister representing the Minister for Industry and Innovation. Minister, the strategic examination of research and development report, released last week, is called Ambitious Australia. Much of that report, including its key recommendation to establish a national innovation council, is spookily similar to the Rudd government's Venturous Australia report from 2008.

Given that this recommendation for a national innovation council is almost two decades old, will the government commit to actually acting on it?
