QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE

Senator GALLAGHER (Australian Capital Territory—Minister for Finance, Minister for the Public Service, Minister for Women, Minister for Government Services and Manager of Government Business in the Senate) (14:37): I missed the first bit of your question, but it relates to the online safety framework? Senator Tyrrell interjecting— Senator GALLAGHER: Yes; thanks.

Senator Tyrrell, we have to work in partnership with the states and territories on this, but not only with state and territory governments. We can certainly work on laws—digital duty of care, the social media ban that we put in place—but we also have to engage more broadly across the community on appropriate standards of behaviour and responses to that behaviour in the online world, which is rapidly changing all the time.

The Commonwealth government can lead, and we have shown our preparedness to leave. I note the Minister for Communications, the Attorney-General, myself, Minister Plibersek have all been involved in discussions about how to make sure we are dealing at the earliest opportunity with some of the behaviour that we've been seeing, particularly with young men. (Time expired) The PRESIDENT: Senator Tyrrell, second supplementary?
