QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE
Senator FARRELL (South Australia—Minister for Trade and Tourism, Special Minister of State and Deputy Leader of the Government in the Senate) (14:44): I thank Senator Canavan for his first supplementary question. This deal is a great deal for the agriculture sector. Every hour since this agreement was announced a separate group of companies and organisations in this country has come out and said what a great deal this is for the country.
The PRESIDENT: Senator Canavan? Senator Canavan: On relevance, the question was about cheesemakers, and I think they deserve an answer for why their tariff protection was removed by this unfair competition— The PRESIDENT: I believe the minister is being relevant. I remind you— Senator McKenzie interjecting— The PRESIDENT: Are you in some kind of a debate with me, Senator McKenzie?
I will remind you not to interject, because, as you know, the minister is entitled to take your interjections. 'Be silent' would be my best advice and my order. Senator FARRELL: This is a great deal for Australia. It means that we have completed the circle of all of the free trade agreements, which, in 15 years, the Nationals could not do.
You could not do it, and we have done it. We've finally done it. The PRESIDENT: Senator Canavan, second supplementary?
