Senator ALLMAN-PAYNE (Queensland) (12:59): Thank you for that response, Minister, and I note that you said that this has been in place for some time. We have seen, particularly in recent months and certainly over the last couple of years, that costs for everything are going through the roof. Rents are out of control.

People are getting smashed at the supermarket. We're now seeing people not being able to afford fuel. Does the government accept that it needs to take action on increasing these amounts because the current political context and the economic context demands that people actually need more?
